Best Laminate Floor Cleaner (2021): Reviews Of Steam Mops, Robots & More

Now your home has beautiful laminate flooring. But how do you keep it looking its best?

You may have already heard that mopping with water is a no-no. That’s partially true.

Standing water can penetrate between the panels and cause them to warp and lift. But it’s perfectly acceptable to damp-mop or steam-clean your floor.

As long as it’s dry in a few seconds, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Next, for everyday maintenance, why not try a robotic vacuum? Or you may prefer to do the job yourself with a lightweight stick vacuum or an upright.

Finally, there’s always the dependable dust mop or broom.

What can you use to clean laminate floors?

Let’s take a look at the best laminate floor cleaners to see which ones best fit your home and your needs.

BLACK+DECKER BDH1720SM SmartSelect Steam Mop

Black+Decker’s SmartSelect Steam Mop makes it easy to steam-clean laminate floors. It has a selector dial on the front to choose between wood/laminate, tile/vinyl, or stone/marble.

Then the mop releases the correct amount of steam to sanitize that surface safely.

Out of all the steam mops we reviewed recently, this one heats up faster than any of the others.

It has an indicator light that changes from red to blue when it’s ready. When its tank is full of water, it gives you 22 minutes of continuous steam.

Then, if you park the mop upright, the steam shuts off automatically so you can take a break.

The SmartSelect mop comes with a resting mat to protect the floor when it’s not in use, plus a 23-foot power cord, and two washable microfiber pads.

When it’s empty, it only weighs 5.2 pounds. And it’s protected by a 30-day money-back guarantee and a two-year limited warranty.

Shark DuoClean Rocket Corded Ultralight Upright Vacuum HV382

Shark’s DuoClean Rocket HV382 handles plush carpets as easily as bare floors. It comes with a soft brush roller that picks up every last bit of dust from laminate floors.

There’s also a pet multi-tool attachment that’s perfect for removing pet hair from stairs and furniture.

This attachment fits on the vacuum when it converts into a hand vac that only weighs 4.6 pounds. Also, the vacuum has convenient LED lights on both the floor attachments and the hand vacuum.

If you like the Shark upright, but might prefer a canister or cordless vac, check our reviews of other vacuums that are perfect for laminate floors.

iRobot Braava 380t Robot Mop

You may have seen a Roomba vacuum in action, but have you watched a Braava?

Unlike a Roomba which seems to wander in random directions, the Braava moves in straight lines back-and-forth. It’s capable of dry-mopping and wet-mopping your floors.

On one charge, the Braava can mop up to 350  square feet or sweep 1000 square feet. Then it only takes two hours to recharge for the next round.

The robot comes with reusable sweeping and mopping cloths, but it’s compatible with disposable cloths too. And it’s much quieter than a robotic vacuum.

Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop

If you prefer a do-it-yourself option, try the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop.

The microfiber cleaning pads are good for both dry-mopping and damp-mopping. They do a much better job at picking up fine dust and debris than traditional mops or brooms.

They’re machine-washable up to hundred times and won’t scratch laminate floors.

The mop handle has a built-in refillable bottle that holds hot water and cleaning solution if you like.

Then you simply pull the trigger to spray a small amount of liquid directly in front of the mop pad.

This method works well on laminate floors as long as you swap the pad for a dry one when it becomes saturated.

Sheiner’s Hardwood Floor Cleaner

Unless you’re using a steam mop, the chances are that plain water won’t be enough to remove grime from your laminate floors.

In that case, try Sheiner’s Hardwood Floor Cleaner. It’s biodegradable, has a pleasant citrus scent, and it’s non-toxic to pets and humans.

Customers report being pleased with this cleaner’s performance on their laminate.

They’ve noticed it does not leave streaks or residue. And it doesn’t need to be diluted with water, either.

Libman Freedom Dust Mop

It’s small but mighty. The Libman Freedom dust mop is only 10 inches wide, but it can hold a lot of dust and hair before you will need to shake it or vacuum it clean.

The machine-washable microfiber pad has fingers that pick up more dirt than the average dust mop.

And the diminutive size of the mop makes it easy to dust places above eye level, too.

Swiffer Sweeper Cleaner Dry and Wet Mop Starter Kit

If you don’t mind being locked into buying replacement pads, Swiffer has some of the best tools on the market.

Their dry and wet mop starter kit contains the sweeper handle with seven dry cloths and three wet mop cloths.

The dry cloths are lightly textured to pick up dust and hair and wipe away grime.

But be careful not to use the wet pads on laminate floors when they are saturated with water.

And if you decide that Swiffer isn’t working for you, they offer a full refund.

Fuller Brush Fiesta Broom with Extendable Steel Handle

The Fuller Brush Fiesta is special among brooms because it has soft feathered bristle tips that won’t scratch laminate but do a very good job of picking up dust and crumbs.

It also has an adjustable steel handle that telescopes from 29 to 52 inches in length. And it’s washable, too.

OXO Good Grips Sweep Set with Extendable Broom

Sweeping a laminate floor just got easier with the OXO sweep set that includes an extendable broom and dustpan with a long handle. It’ll save your back from stooping over to pick up debris.

When you look at the dustpan, you also see that it has teeth for cleaning hairs out of the broom bristles.

And the bristles themselves are soft to pick up crumbs without scratching the floor. If you don’t love this broom set, contact the manufacturer about their satisfaction guarantee.

Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate Floor Care System

The Bona Floor Care System simplifies shopping by including everything you need in one kit.

In the box, you’ll find a mop handle plus a large rectangular mop head.

Along with that, you’ll have a microfiber dusting pad as well as an easy-glide mopping pad.

Both of these are machine-washable. Finally, there’s also a 32-ounce spray bottle of floor cleaner liquid.

There’s no need to dilute it before use, and you won’t have to rinse, either.

Black Diamond Wood & Laminate Floor Cleaner

Black Diamond’s floor cleaner doesn’t need to be diluted before you use it to clean your laminate or hardwood floors.

It’s non-toxic, so it’s safe to use when you have pets and children. Plus, it has a mild scent.

This liquid won’t leave streaks or a haze if you use a microfiber mop or cloth to wipe it dry.

Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish and Polish

Some homeowners swear by the Quick Shine Floor Finish. That’s because it restores the glossy look of new laminate.

To achieve that goal, apply the liquid to the floor, then wipe it with a microfiber cloth. Users say that it might take two coats for best results.

Zep Enforcer ZUHLF128 Professional Strength Hardwood and Laminate Floor Cleaner

The Zep Enforcer floor cleaner is recommended for laminate as well as surfaces that are sealed with varnish or polyurethane. That includes baseboards and cabinets, too.

Although it’s labeled as “professional strength,” this is a mild liquid detergent that doesn’t need to be rinsed.

It won’t leave a waxy residue or a haze, especially when you wipe it off with a microfiber mop.

Rejuvenate No-Bucket Floor Cleaner

The Rejuvenate No-Bucket cleaner gets rid of residue from other cleaners used in the past.

And this lemon-scented liquid is safe for laminate, hardwood, ceramic, vinyl, and tile. Use it before you apply the Rejuvenate Floor Restorer.

Rejuvenate All Floors Restorer

It’s almost impossible to keep wood floors looking like new forever. If your laminate has begun to look dull or scratched, try the Rejuvenate All Floors Restorer.

Apply it to clean flooring and let it dry for 45 minutes before you walk on it. It will fill in scratches and leave the laminate shiny but not slippery.

O-Cedar Dual-Action Microfiber Flip Mop

Instead of buying a collection of mops, why not get this 2-in-1 tool from O-Cedar? One side is a microfiber pad for wet-mopping while the other is Chenille for dusting.

The mop head rotates 360°, and the handle adjusts for users of different heights.

Conclusion

We hope we helped you discover the best laminate floor cleaners for your home. From brooms and dust mops for everyday maintenance to vacuums and steam mops for deep cleaning, there’s always a perfect solution for your needs.

  1. Thanks for providing this list. It’s good to know the Swiffer I’m using is on it. Also, Zep iprovides my favorite cleaning products, and I’m happy to know I can use them as well.

  2. I am going to try the rejuvenate cleaner. Hopefully it will pick up the water spots which just won’t come out. I have tried every thing else.

    1. Copied the best solution thus far.. “Mix equal parts white vinegar, rubbing alcohol and warm water in a bowl. Dampen a clean cloth in the mixture and scrub the marks on the floor until they’re removed, then dry the area thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth. Vinegar removes white marks caused by using too much floor cleaner”. I didn’t go to heavy with the ingredients here just repeated the process a few times. Rejuvenate didn’t do diddly-squat for me.

  3. (Had new furniture leave factory grease on the floor.. I used a little Vinegar & baking soda, it worked better than any store bought stuff I got). I use the Libman ‘Freedom Dust Mop’ Daily, it’s awesome. If you have dogs can or cats do NOT get any robot vacuum under any circumstances! Just look up “poopocalypse story” and it will never cross your mind again!
